Starring John Wayne as Sheriff John Higgins. Wayne mistakenly thinks that he has killed his close friend during a shoot out with the bad guys after a bank robbery. Distraught, he quits his law enforcement job and goes prospecting where he ends up helping the sister of his dead friend run her ranch. She ultimately finds out that he was the only that killed her brother and confusion ensues.
